Featuring the works of Harry Utter — through February 27, 2023

Winter 2023 — Harry Utter

Harry Utter is a long time Denver resident, whose artwork combines printmaking and mixed media works on paper. A common set of themes for his work is strong abstract composition with bold colors, of figures, landscapes, and urban spaces. Each of his pieces is unique, typically integrating background intaglio etchings, with multiple layers of chine-colle papers and hand painted inks. You’ll see beautiful examples of this at the Define show.

Stop by Define Hair Salon at 62 W. 11th Ave., Denver to see the artwork in person. For more information visit Harry’s website at www.artworkarchive.com/artwork/harry-utter or contact us for a private showing of Harry’s work.

Attend the artist reception Saturday, February 11, 6:30 – 8 pm!

Past Showcase Artists

Early Winter 2022/2023 — Eliza Marcus

Ever since Eliza was little she has had a pen or pencil in hand drawing women in fashion. She moved to Denver during the pandemic, and fell in love with the city and its people. She has never been more involved in a place where she has lived, and is inspired to pursue her art practice and tackle new ideas and subject matter. Eliza is currently trying to dissect different types of bodies, and the idea of constraint.

November 2022 — Sheri Frazier — Landscape photographs

Most of the work at Define will be from Sheri’s traditional photo realism series. However, she has always loved the Impressionists – from her early days as an art major. One of her larger pieces called “Funky Aspens” will be on display. This is from her Photo Impressionism Collection that captures Sheri’s interest in light and impressionism intertwined with the beautiful fall colors of Colorado.

Sheri loves shooting landscapes, but she also loves portrait photography, and is often solicited to shoot family or HS Senior photos. She also loves capturing landscapes with traditional photo realism which is reflected in her Colorado and Travel Collections. Her work has been shown in Denver and Aspen.

Stop by Define Hair Salon at 62 W. 11th Ave., Denver to see the artwork in person for the month of October. Attend the artist reception Saturday, November 12, 6:30 – 8 pm. Visit sherifrazierphotography.com to learn more about Sheri, or follow her on Instagram or Facebook – @sherifrazierphotography. Contact us for a private showing of Sheri’s work.

October 2022 — Sarah Haney — Abstract landscape photographs printed on metal

Haney’s goal with this series was to create images that evoke a sense of the time and place, rather than to depict specific details. The majority of the photos in this series were created through intentional camera movements during exposure to create some blur and abstraction. Others were created by altering or layering images on the photo after it was taken, to create sharply focused areas.

Stop by Define Hair Salon at 62 W. 11th Ave., Denver to see the artwork in person for the month of October. Attend the artist reception Saturday, October 8, 6:30 – 8 pm. June 2022 — Eric Myles Jones — “Cows and Critters – This Ain’t Ya Grandpa’s Western Art”

While Eric’s work gives a nod to Pointillism and Cubism, it is unique in its own way. These paintings are so visually interesting – filled with depth, hidden subtle patterns, maze-like twists and brush-flicks. This is ‘Western’ art like you have never seen, covering Colorado animals and western scenes in a captivating way. You’ll see it one way up close, and another way from a distance.

Visit ericmylesjonesart.com to learn more about Eric, read his blog, and view his artwork, or check out Eric’s Etsy store for originals available for purchase. Contact us for a private showing of Eric’s work.

May 2022 — Andrea E. Antognoni — “Guitars, Coffee, and the Abstract Truth”

The craftsmanship in Andrea’s paintings is something we find fascinating. Works in her coffee pot series include real coffee grounds! It’s this experimentation with both media, and fun colors that draws us to her work. Whether you like a rugged coastal landscape, a beautiful forest, abstract flora and fauna, or a classic-looking guitar for your walls, her work will be a beautiful addition.

Stop by Define Hair Salon at 62 W. 11th Ave., Denver to see the artwork in person through Tuesday, May 31. Visit AEA Gallery to learn more about Andrea, or check out originals, prints, calendars, mugs, and more available for purchase. Contact us for a private showing of Andrea’s work.

April 2022 — SA Bennett / Black Belle Studio

SA Bennett shared a unique set of portraits, including the Women of Jazz series, showcasing black women who made an impact on the jazz experience in the mid-1900s. African diaspera is common theme in all her work. Her bold use of color and expression will linger on in your mind, long after you see her work. You’ll want to come back for that perfect piece.
